Following the release of his second single of the year “Sun Goes Down,” after a highly controversial and successful hit single “Montero (Call Me By Your Name), Lil Nas X appeared in the latest episode of Saturday Night Live to perform both of the songs.

During the performance of the former, Lil Nas X’s pants appeared to rip, requiring him to cover his crotch for the rest of the performance. In response, he tweeted that, unlike many of his stunts designed to induce virality, the wardrobe malfunction was not planned.
